Given his Oscar-winning pedigree (best adapted screenplay for 2015¡¯s ¡°The Big Short¡±), it¡¯s not surprising McKay was able to assemble such a stellar cast (including Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Timoth¨¦e Chalamet and Cate Blanchett) for his latest movie in 2021, Netflix¡¯s ¡°Don¡¯t Look Up,¡± which streams in December. A former head writer for ¡°SNL,¡± McKay directed a series of goofy hit comedies starring Will Ferrell, including ¡°Talladega Nights¡± and ¡°Anchorman,¡± which led the two to form Gary Sanchez Productions and the Funny or Die website. Now, McKay produces projects through new prodco Hyperobject Industries, adding his name to HBO¡¯s popular ¡°Succession¡± series as well as projects like HBO docuseries ¡°Q: Into the Storm,¡± about the QAnon conspiracy movement, and Freeform¡¯s ¡°Motherland: Fort Salem.¡±
